GRANDMA'S APPLE PIE RECIPE
This year is my first for hosting Thanksgiving at our house, but no matter where we celebrate Thanksgiving we always have my grandmas apple pie. It's a favorite for everyone I've made it for and today I'm sharing it with you.
Ingredients
5 Apples {sometimes 6 depending on size}
1 Cup of Sugar
1/3 cup of Flour
1 teaspoon of Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of Nutmeg
Step 1 | Preheat your oven to 425 degrees.
Step 2 | Place your pie dough into the pie pan {I use pillsbury Pie crust cause I don't have much time to make my own dough. I have used other brand and they just aren't as good.}
Step 3 | Get a medium size mixing bowl.
Step 4 | Mix the sugar, cinnamon, flour, & nutmeg into the mixing bowl.
Step 5 | Get your apple peeler & start peeling the apples but do one apple at a time.
Step 6 | Cut each apple down the middle from top to bottom, then slice each half down the middle again.
Step 7 | Sift Every other apple in the Sugar mix you made earlier, and place them in the pie pan. Repeat this step for at least 4 apples, you should get one layer with the mix and then one apple layer without. It should start to look like this...
Step 8 | For the very last apple cut the same but instead of doing all the sugar mix or plain only do both together.
Step 9 | Place the dough on the top of your pie and decorate as you'd like.
Step 10 | Once your pie has been put together wrap a light layer of tin foil all the way around the edge of the crust.
Step 11 | Bake in the oven for 40 to 50 mins and for the final 10 mins take off the tin foil and let it cook for the remaining time.
I hope you enjoyed our apple pie recipe, have a Happy Thanksgiving!
